New Report Highlights Potentially Devastating Impact of King v. Burwell on Missouri and Illinois Women

St. Louis, MO – On Tuesday, Planned Parenthood released a new report showing that 4.1 million women are at risk of losing affordable health insurance as a result of a case the U.S. Supreme Court heard yesterday. That case, King v. Burwell, hinges on whether or not federal financial assistance under the Affordable Care Act (ACA) should be available in all 50 states or only in the 16 states and the District of Columbia that have established their own state-based Marketplaces. According to the report, a ruling in favor of King would mean that financial assistance – in the form of premium subsidies or tax credits – would no longer be available to 122,921 women in Missouri – including 40,564 women of color.
In Illinois, 148,992 women would no longer be able to receive financial assistance including 49,167 women of color….
